Peppers and sunflowers like to bask in full sun and soil that isn't overly wet, which makes them great companion plants. Peppers can deter pests that plague sunflowers like spider mites, and aphids. Cover the ground beneath the both with lettuce as it will appreciate the shade sunflowers and peppers have to offer on warm days, not to mention that lettuce attracts ladybugs, which also eat aphids and other annoying pests.
